Steven Chong is a multi-talented harmonica player. He Started to learn harmonica in 1975. He plays all types of harmonica. He is the assistant conductor of HNHK Harmonica Orchestra. He is the harmonica instructor, leader of percussion team and score arranger for the orchestra. He is also the lead player and score arranger of the Singapore Broadway Harmonica Ensemble ( SBHE). He played Chromatic harmonica and Tremolo harmonica. He teach harmonica in music school too. Among his achievements comprised won the champion for Chromatic Solo in Singapore National Harmonica Competition 2008. Together with HNHK Harmonica Orchestra, won Orchestra Competition championship in 2nd APHF 1998 and International Harmonica Competition Hangzhou China 2005. Together with SBHE won excellent award in World Harmonica Competition 2017. In 2006, he played as a lead soloist for “ Butterfly Lovers Concerto “ at Esplanade Concert Hall and received many compliments for his outstanding performance. In 2015, he performed Linbertango with violinist Dr. Ayke Agus, who was the student of world famous violinist Jascha Heifetz. Audience was very impressed with their duet performance. Together with HNHK Harmonica Orchestra and SBHE, he performed in APHF’s Concerts.
